Fitting Your Guard

These are boil-and-bite, so the fit is yours to set. Bring water to the boil, take it off the heat, and submerge the guard for the time stated on the packaging — too long and you'll deform it. Transfer it to cold water for a couple of seconds so it doesn't burn you, then bite down firmly and use your tongue and fingers to press it against your teeth and gums. Hold it for around 30 seconds, then drop it into cold water to set. If the fit isn't right first time, you can usually repeat the process once. A properly fitted guard should stay put without you clenching to hold it.

Care and Hygiene

A mouth guard spends its life in a warm, wet, dark bag, which is exactly what bacteria want. Rinse it after every session, let it dry fully before it goes away, and store it in a vented case rather than loose in your kit.
